This is where it's at thus far, 2020 Miss Marnie & Mr Jon Maybey are performing their music with a twist! Playing an infusion of acoustic rock, funk and blues. With spine tingling vocals, live vocal loops and harmonies, driving guitars, mandolin, percussion, memorable melodies, live loops & FX, often creating the sound of a full band. Pure, raw, heartfelt music. With engaging and uplifting Original songs filled with energy and soul, combined with impressive covers. We are continuing to work on new material for our new Album.

About Marnie  Lead vocals & guitar & songwriter

Song writing is inspired mainly by Lifes experiences. Stuff & things from the deep and meaningful ( Song-Jerk), to the darn right silly (The Woodlouse song)!

(Some songs co written with Jon Maybey, Ben Trott, Luke Steffens, Sam Elliott, Callum Vellacott, James Smyth, Katie Marie & Paul Vyse.)

Major passions in life are Music, Animals, Celtic Art’y stuff. Fire engines, Mint choc’ milkshake.

Ambitions:  to keep on making music, be happy and feed the soul, ''Pay it forward''

Campa vans Rule. Watch out, I’m a white van driver! Eek!

My Favourite dog is an Akita AND Labradors are just the top dogs! Ellie, Saffi & Inca!

Think I was a fish in a previous life, cause I drink so much...te he, only joking, NA, It's because I love water so much-swimming, diving, fish & all that jazz, but not really too much Jazz !

I dislike tinned sweet corn & snappy Jack Russell's.

Guns n’ Roses - Sweet Child o’ mine & Wild Thing are great songs with a history... I have Many other favourites, but where do I stop...

I have such a wide range of musical tastes ranging from almost one extreme to the other really. I love and totally connect with the old fashioned black blues music & Irish & folk. I love K.T.Tunstall. Alanis Morissette, Florence & the machine, Adele ooh & many, many more... Pure class!

I grew up listening to lots of Queen, Janis Joplin, Melanie, Madonna, Elkie Brooks, Rolling Stones, Beatles, G n‘ R, ACDC...bla, bla, bla.... & mostly tunes off the radio really.

I was born & grew up in Dorset, lived in Southern Ireland for a couple of years & moved to Devon at 16 and I've been here ever since so that's a long time now...Only another 50 years and I might be classed as a 'yocal' !!

The beginning of my journey My Mum says I have always sung from the age of 'dot'. As I was growing up, I used to climb a big tree in our garden and write poems, that is, up until I hit teenage coolness... I then took it up again ( the singing, not the coolness) in about 2001 after accidently singing at a Karaoke night (or is it Karayucky!). ( lol.only joking, I shouldn't knock it, it's where I started! ) ...A fellow muso' , Mr Callum introduced me to Jam nights & acoustic evenings and I started performing harmonies with him & other musicians until I had the nerve to get up there & sing on my own... I started entering talent competitions and from there gradually trained myself up by practising like mad to then go semi-prof’ in 2004.

Dec’ 2003 was the first time I ever tried to play guitar & I’m still learning all the time...he,he  ;)

Band history from the start  The movement of the tides to new waters

MARNIE‘s acoustic duo band was formed in May 2005. At the time it was called ‘Aurora’ ,with the wonderful Mr Ben Trott on Lead guitar. Ben then went on his way in Sept' to study music tech’ at Doncaster Uni’ ... Marnie then met Paul. They did a lot of songwriting and had lots of gigs from about Oct 2005 to Dec 2007. With his other life's commitments, there was just not enough hours in the day and although he's a talented soul, it just wasn't possible to extract his D n' A  and clone him. Lol... So then there was one!!! ... Over 2008 Marnie performed some gigs with talented guitarists such as Ed and was also working with new musicians so that she could still sing her little, big heart out !!....In the latter part of 2008 to Aug 2009 Marnie & Katie Marie joined forces and created  ''Marnie & Me'' . They were busy bees with lots of gigs, radio interviews and songwriting. They're both very driven people and after an evaluation, they decided to focus on their own individual singer / songwriting careers... Marnie carried on performing solo and also starred with special guest artists such as the awesome Rupe & Ben also known as  'Mr Zen' and the wonderfully talented harmonised / energized band  THE SOUND OF THE SIRENS ! and not forgetting constantly working with the funky unique sound of JABBROCK !!!! Marnie has also performed with full band 'Marnie & the Men from Delmonte' for her 2011 Festival gigs. With Callum & Steve on Guitars, Dan on Drums & backing vocals & Dave on Bass... And then there were three. Moving on to the Marnie Trio Band in 2012 with Luke Steffens on guitar & Sam Elliott on the Cajon Drum. We had a great year of gigs and songwriting and then it was time for each to move onto new horizons!... After a spate of Solo gigs, towards the end of 2013, Marnie started working with the amazingly talented multi tasking Mr Jon Maybey. And this is where it's at! We are performing, writing and recording. 2020
